Biography
Matthew Littleton leads a team of Data Security and Privacy subject matter experts who serve as technical and policy advisors to Microsoft customer account teams and are directly engaged with Microsoft engineering on future Data Security and Privacy product development. The team supports both Commercial and Government customers across Canada, US, Central/South America. He and the team provide direct specialized support to US Federal and Defense Industrial Base customers seeking to address emerging regulatory requirements such as the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) framework. During his fifteen years at Microsoft, Matt has supported Commercial and Federal customers in both product and services roles. He began his career at Microsoft as an Account Executive and subsequently led the Services Sales organization in the Federal National Security Group (NSG). He then supported Financial Services Industry customers as a Secure Infrastructure Services Solutions Specialist focused on Cybersecurity, Identity and Azure Infrastructure engagements before moving into the Security Solutions organization to help stand up and now lead the Data Security and Privacy team.
Matt is a retired Navy Captain who brings 28 years of Active and Reserve military experience to the role. He began his career as a Surface Warfare Officer and transitioned to the Intelligence field in the mid-1990s serving in multiple senior leadership roles across the globe. He began his cybersecurity focus in 1995 while obtaining a master’s degree in National Security Affairs at the US Naval Postgraduate School and has served in multiple military and civilian security roles to include as a contractor: leader of the Department of Defense Computer Emergency Response Team (DOD-CERT) 24/7 watch, support to Joint Task Force – Computer Network Operations (now US CYBER COMMAND) Operations Staff. He has been a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) since 2001
