Andrew Freund

Andrew is the Founder & CEO of Kraken Compliance. He’s been engaged with NIST 800-171, long before the inception of CMMC, leading KPMG’s Federal IT Compliance Program, where he oversaw the implementation and continuous compliance of the firms NIST 800-171 & CMMC Compliance Program. Since the inception of CMMC, Andrew has played a vital role in the CMMC Ecosystem, serving as a founding a member of the CMMC Accreditation Body’s Quality Assurance Working Group, developing the ABs Quality Assurance Process & Guide. Andrew is professional recognized as a Lead CMMC Certified Assessor (CCA), CMMC Certified Professional (CCP), Registered Practitioner (RP), and Registered Practitioner Advanced (RPA).

As a thought leader, Andrew has been a regular commentor to NIST Publications, and Cyber Security rules & regulations, resulting in the improved transparency of Cyber Security requirements and standards for the DIB. Leveraging his +13 years of deep IT compliance experience, Andrew has developed two Universal Controls Frameworks, one of which has been used by +500 companies & is designed to support more than 75 Frameworks, Standards, Regulations, and Laws.

Andrew also holds a MBA & B.S. in Cyber Security, from the University of Maryland, CISA, CISM, & CRISC.
